Get Involved
We need you to tell us your memories of Walsall Manor Hospital. Maybe you trained there, have been a patient or visited a relative or friend and have a unique, interesting or quirky story to tell.
A collection of oral histories will be recorded including genuine life stories and memories that capture the rich historical background of the hospital. The memories will then be displayed in visual transcripts along the hospital corridors as well as being recorded on audio CD format and archived in Walsall Local History Centre for local public access.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is delighted to have been awarded a £37,900 grant to carry out the project from the Heritage Lottery Fund, an organisation that invests money raised by the national lottery into preserving local culture, media and history.
We are looking for a variety of stories, these could be:
- Staff stories
- Memories of training and developing your career
- Patient stories
- Memories of the buildings and surrounding grounds
- Daily routine
- Social life and friendships
- Atmospheric memories – tastes, smells, sounds
- Eras
- Medication/ treatment
- Departmental changes
If you have a story you would like to contribute towards this important piece of local history or would like to find out more about the project please contact Kerry Hodgkiss.
